The Church at Whistling Pines is a church on mission.

We believe that Jesus’ command to go into all the world is to be taken literally.  We encourage every believer to do several things, in order to fulfill this command:

1. Pray – for those who are serving on mission, here in our community, and in various places around the world

2. Give – God’s work cannot be accomplished without resources.  Those who give their lives in service to God and others have to be supported in order to commit themselves fully to the mission.  We encourage a Monthly Faith Pledge to missions.

  • Pray and ask God to speak to your heart about an amount that HE is going to provide for you to give.
  • Turn in a Faith Pledge card – this allows the leadership and the missionaries to have some expectation of how much we are believing God for
  • Give your faith pledge on a monthly basis

3. GO – We provide frequent opportunities for you to go on a short term mission trip.  Ask one of our leaders how you can join a team of missionaries on their next adventure.

Through the faithful giving of God’s people, we currently support the following missionaries and their efforts, here in our community and around the world:              (click links to go to various websites)

Commissioned Beyond BordersEmpower School of Discipleship:  Directed by Buddy Walker, located here in Umatilla on  property adjacent to our church building,  CBB and Empower are a training and sending ministry, equipping young adults for life readiness and service to others.

The Ruth House – A transitional shelter for women in crisis, directed by Rebecca Randall

Off the Trail – A mission base in Pulcallpa, Peru directed by Kimberly Holmes,  offering short-term mission opportunities and humanitarian aid through feeding ministry sites and joint efforts with the Dirandro Anti-Drug Police in Pucallpa.

African Inland Mission – Tiffany Toews and family are missionaries originally sent out from our church family to serve in Africa; they are currently in Uganda working with widows and orphans through empowerment and education.

Jose and Ivannia Roman – Reaching out to those who have never heard,  in the heart of Asia, Jose was trained and sent from our church several years ago, and by way of Costa Rica met his wife Ivannia.  They work to form gospel communities through teaching English as a second language.

Luis and Maira Fuentes – Work here in Lake County, Florida with Spanish speaking people from many different countries, networking and training pastors, supporting church planters, serving and counseling those in need.  They are involved in helping several different churches develop cross cultural ministry to Hispanic people.

Pastor Luc Saint Felix – A native of Haiti, Pastor Luc’s life vision is “Haiti for Jesus”.  He has helped start and oversees over sixty indigenous churches in the island nation; many in remote mountainous regions that take many hours of rigorous travel to reach.  He networks resources to help these churches provide: a building to worship in, wells to provide water, schools to educate the children, and food for the children who come to the church school.

Robb and Heather Elmatti – Robb grew up in our church family and trained for missions with Youth With A Mission in New Zealand many years ago.  He met his wife Heather there, then returned to Lake County, where they have worked in the church and community while building their family of 3 young children.  They are now returning to YWAM in New Zealand to continue a life on mission.  They will be training and leading teams to do outreach around the Pacific Rim.

Life’s Choices of Lake County – A crisis pregnancy center providing Christian alternatives, counseling, and support to those who experience  an unplanned pregnancy.
