We are exhorted by James that if we ask God for something we must believe and not doubt. Such doubting is characterized by being “double-minded” and being “unstable in all of our ways.” Why do we waver in our faith? In Mark 9, we read of an interaction between Jesus and the father of a boy with an evil spirit. During his pleading with Jesus for his son to be healed, the father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” We find ourselves in the position as well. Let that be our prayer.
